who we are

SpeakEasy Language School was founded by Tracie Ramsden and Katya Lightbody in 2006 with the aim of providing high-quality language learning for all ages and abilities.

We tailor lessons to your needs and ensure an accessible approach to learning a language in a fun and relaxed environment.

Born in Jersey, Tracie completed her education at Les Quennevais and Hautlieu schools, where she studied French and German. Tracie graduated from Middlesex University with a BA Honours Degree in French with TEFL, during which time she taught English in Paris and studied at the Université de St Denis. She went on to complete a Secondary teaching qualification. Tracie taught at Grainville School for two years, prior to moving to Spain for three years, where she enjoyed teaching both children and adults for one year in Seville, and two years in Madrid.

Tracie has most recently held the position of Language Teacher at Hautlieu School and she is enjoying being part of the young, dynamic team at SpeakEasy.

Born in Jersey, Katya competed her education at Les Quennevais and Hautlieu schools, where she achieved A-Levels in French, German and English. Katya graduated from the University of Liverpool with a BA Honours Degree in French, during which time she completed a year at the Université de Bourgogne in Dijon. Katya gained a TEFL qualification and moved to Florence, Italy for a year, where she taught English to adults and children in a local language school. Katya furthered her qualifications by successfully completing a Primary teaching qualification, with a certificate in Primary French Teaching. She also taught in a Rennes primary school during this time.
